According to an Associated Press report dated July 5th, a senior U.S. official stated that it is expected that U.S. President Trump will communicate with Russian President Putin after meeting with Ukrainian President Zelenskyy in Turkey.
According to reports, the White House stated that during the NATO summit, Trump plans to meet with Zelensky and Syrian transitional government president Ahmed Harb on July 8.
White House spokesman Anna Kelly confirmed these meetings with the Associated Press, and also announced that during the summit, Trump plans to meet with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan on July 7.
On July 4th, Independence Day in the United States, Zelensky and Putekin had a phone call with Trump.
After the call, Zelenskyy posted on social media, saying that he discussed the situation on the frontline with Trump. Analysts believe that Russia's progress on the frontline has slowed down. He also said that Ukraine has strengthened its attacks on Moscow, demonstrating its ability to strike deep into Russian territory.
Zelenskyy said, "There is a real prospect of ending this conflict," and related discussions will continue at the NATO summit.
Russian President's Assistant Ushakov reported on July 5th that the conversation between Putin and Trump lasted approximately 1 hour and 25 minutes. During the call, Putin outlined the situation of the Russian-Ukrainian conflict, emphasizing that the Russian army is launching attacks across all fronts.
Ushakov said that Trump reiterated in the phone call his commitment to facilitating the immediate cessation of military actions and seeking peaceful solutions to the Ukraine crisis. Trump's envoy, Witkov, and his son-in-law Kushner will continue to mediate and will visit Moscow at the appropriate time.
He said, “This call was initiated by the US side, scheduled to take place on the day of the 250th anniversary of the founding of the United States. This alone speaks volumes. The leaders of both countries agreed to stay in contact and will have another conversation in the near future.”
