Yemen’s Ministry of Information said today (July 13) that the Houthi militia in Yemen had seized an aircraft of the International Red Cross and detained both the pilot and co-pilot at Sana’a Airport.
At around 2 p.m. local time today (July 13th), Yemen's capital Sanaa International Airport was attacked by air force forces, with the main target being the airport runway.
Yemen's Houthi militant spokesman Yahya Sareer said on social media platform Telegram on the 13th that Saudi Arabia had carried out this air strike, calling it "the end of a phase of easing tensions." He warned that "such aggressive actions will not go unpunished." An order to evacuate the airport and its surrounding areas has been issued.
Regarding this, the Saudi side has not responded yet.
Before the air raid, a Houla militant source told CCTV News that a senior delegation of Houla militants traveling to Iran to attend the memorial ceremony for the late Iranian Supreme Leader Khamenei planned to arrive at Sanaa International Airport by Iranian aircraft at noon today. It is reported that just before the air raid, the Iranian aircraft carrying the Houla militant delegation “had just entered Yemen’s airspace and was flying towards Sanaa.”
Yemen's Defense Ministry stated that the country's armed forces attacked the runway at Sana'a International Airport in order to prevent an Iranian plane from landing.
Yemeni government’s Ministry of Defense previously issued a statement saying that “patience has reached its limit,” and would use all means to “respond to Iran’s violations of Yemeni airspace.”
