Chinas Household Appliances Exports Soar Amidst Europes Heatwave

Recently, Europe has been hit by high temperatures, and the export situation of household appliances such as air conditioners in our country has also attracted attention.

According to China.com, at a press conference held by the State Council Information Office on the 14th, Lü Daliang, spokesperson for the General Administration of Customs and director of the Statistical Analysis Department, responded to relevant questions. He said that in recent years, there has been a focus on the so-called "new three items" in society, which refer to electric vehicles, lithium batteries, and photovoltaic products. In fact, we also have the "old three items," which include mobile phones, computers, and household appliances. These still play an important role in maintaining stable foreign trade.

Lü Daliang said that regarding household appliances, in the first half of the year, China exported 360.96 billion yuan worth of products. Among these, under the conditions of frequent high temperatures worldwide, products such as air conditioners, fans, and refrigerators, which provide a sense of coolness, accounted for a total export value of 107.91 billion yuan. These products met the needs of many families and brought a sense of coolness to consumers around the world.

Lv Daliang said that the quality of household appliances exported from our country is improving, and the brands are also being upgraded. Among the exported household appliances, self-owned brands account for one-fourth of the total. In the first half of the year, exports of self-owned brand household appliances increased by 21.2%. Specifically, exports of televisions, refrigerators, and washing machines under self-owned brands have maintained double-digit growth.

He stated that China's transition from 'Made in China' to 'Intelligent Manufacturing in China' has allowed global consumers to increasingly experience the convenience and comfort brought by Chinese household appliances, better meeting people's pursuit of a high-quality life.

According to Reuters, in order to avoid the scorching heat, people across Europe are rushing to buy air conditioners, especially those from China, where demand has surged. A single Chinese split-type air conditioner was sold out in a short time. Chinese "cooling devices" such as ice makers, multi-functional sun umbrellas, and handheld fans are also becoming popular in European markets.

According to data from the General Administration of Customs, China's export of air conditioners to the EU increased by 43.2% in the first half of 2026, reaching a record high during the same period. The export values to France, the Netherlands, and Belgium doubled year-on-year, and the export volume of mobile air conditioners exceeded 70%. In the first five months of this year, China's export of electric fans to major European countries also increased by more than 20% year-on-year.
