According to Russia Today, on July 15th local time, Serbian President Vucic, who was present in Ukraine for the 'South-Eastern Europe-Ukraine Summit', stated that Serbia supports Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity.
Vucic said, “We support the territorial and sovereign integrity of Ukraine, and we sincerely thank Ukraine for adopting the same attitude towards us.” He also announced that Serbia plans to strengthen cooperation with Ukraine in various fields. Serbia will continue to provide humanitarian assistance to Ukraine and intends to increase its involvement in the reconstruction of a city in Ukraine.
Moreover, Wu Qici reiterated his support for Ukraine and other countries seeking to join the European Union's integration into a single European entity.
On the same day, Cepa, the first vice-chairman of the International Affairs Committee of the State Duma of the Russian Federation, stated that Vucic had made some 'strange statements'. 'It goes against the will of the Serbian people, and he should have a conscience to answer for it.'
Cepa said, "Serbia is a friendly country of Russia. The Serbian people truly love Russia and remember the assistance provided by Russia. Russia has done everything in its power to provide help and support to Serbia. During the period of NATO threats, the Russian people stood firmly by Serbia. Although the assistance provided by Russia was limited, the Russians always stood with Serbia, and they remember this deeply."
On that day, leaders from several European countries and European Commission Chairwoman von der Leyen attended the ' Southeast Europe-Ukraine Summit', and Vučić also met with Zelensky.
However, Vuchchik did not sign the joint statement of the summit, becoming the only leader in attendance who did not sign the statement. The statement called for continued military, financial, and security support for Ukraine, as well as increased sanctions against Moscow, and the targeting of Russia’s ‘shadow fleet’.
When asked about the reasons for rejecting the visa application, Wu Qiqi replied: “You all can see it from the original document. I don’t need to say anything else.”
