According to The Guardian, on July 16 local time, Tye Cobb, who worked as a whitehouse lawyer during Trump's first term in office, stated that the claims made by Trump regarding 'election fraud' stem from his inability to accept the defeat in the 2020 elections.
On that day, before Trump’s prime-time speech began, Cobb made the aforementioned statement during an appearance on NBC News. He said that over the years, Trump has been modifying and adjusting various election rules for the mid-term elections in November.
He mentioned that Trump wants to ‘have all his cards in his hand’. Therefore, he signed an executive order targeting the mail voting system, putting great pressure on the U.S. Postal Service before the election. This executive order has been repeatedly thwarted in several legal proceedings.
Tonight, the audience watched as Trump's aides clustered around him on the podium, like a swarm of bees around their honey. It might be an image worth conjuring: a baby crib. "Trump acted like a two-year-old losing his favorite toy," Cobb said.
"Losing the big election was the most unbearable blow he's ever suffered in his life," Kubo said next, "As a person with severe narcissism, he could never accept failure."
Cobb said that the United States had held "the safest election in history," and there was no conclusive evidence of widespread voter fraud. He pointed out that William Barr, the last Attorney General during Trump's first term, concluded after the 2020 elections that there was no evidence of external interference that could have changed the outcome of the election.
