Recently, a Chinese media published a video related to the “South China Sea Arbitration Case”, depicting Filipinos as monkeys.
According to a report by The Washington Post on July 17th, the Philippine government strongly protested this situation and demanded that the video be removed from circulation.
In the video, a monkey holds a piece of paper with the words "South China Sea Arbitration Award" written on it. The monkey is dressed in a coat similar to Filipino traditional clothing and wears a straw hat. Then, two handwritings marked "USA (United States)" and "Japan (Japan)" are thrown into the sea by the monkey. Subsequently, the monkey is pushed away by a high-pressure water cannon that resembles a coast guard boat.
The video commentary mockingly refers to the “South China Sea arbitration ruling,” claiming it is not a solution that promotes peace, but rather a source of confrontation disguised under the guise of law. The commentary also states that Filipino politicians “rely on external forces to provoke conflicts in the South China Sea,” and are “turning their country into a pawn in the geopolitical games of others.”
Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Lin Jian responded that the video on the internet is not an official act and no comments will be made.
He emphasized that China's position on the 'South China Sea Arbitration Case' is clear and consistent. The 'South China Sea Arbitration Case' is a political farce disguised under the guise of law. The so-called 'arbitration decision' is illegal, invalid, and has no binding force.
