On July 19th, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Andrey Rudinko said in an interview with TASS that if South Korea deployed the American Typhon medium-range missile system on its territory, Russia would respond in kind.
In response to the question of how Moscow will deal with the deployment of the American Topol medium-range missile system in Seoul on its territory, he said: "If such a situation occurs, it will be seen as a threat to the security of the Russian Federation, and corresponding responses will be triggered."
However, Lukyanko pointed out that the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs currently has no information regarding any intention by South Korea to take such actions.
It is reported that the United States’ Typhoon medium-range missile system can be used to launch Standard-6 mult-purpose missiles and Tomahawk cruise missiles with a range of approximately 2,000 kilometers.
Previously, Guo Jiaqun, a spokesperson for the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, also emphasized that China firmly opposes the United States' deployment of medium-range missile systems in Asian countries. China has repeatedly expressed its concerns regarding these issues. The Typhoon medium-range missile system is a strategic offensive weapon that undermines the legitimate security interests of other countries and threatens regional strategic security. It exacerbates the risks of military confrontation and arms race, which are completely detrimental to regional peace and stability.
