According to a report by the American news site Axios on the 28th, two American officials and a regional source involved in mediation said that U.S-Iran negotiations have reached an agreement on a 60-day memorandum of understanding. This agreement aims to extend the ceasefire and initiate negotiations regarding Irans nuclear program. However, this still requires the final approval of U.S President Donald Trump.
U.S. officials said that the United States and Iran have reached a basic agreement on the relevant terms, but both sides still need the approval of their leaders.
It is reported that U.S. negotiators conveyed the details to Trump, but he did not sign off on them immediately. An American official said, The President told the mediator that he needed a few days to consider this matter.
U.S. officials stated that this 60-day memorandum of understanding clearly stipulates that shipping through the Strait of Hormuz will be unrestricted. This means that Iran will no longer charge tolls, will not interfere with navigation, and must clear all mines in the strait within 30 days. Additionally, the U.S. naval blockade will also be lifted.
As of now, Iran has not responded to these reports at all.
