According to the WeChat public account of the Chinese Embassy in Japan, on July 30th, the Chinese Embassy in Japan held a reception to celebrate the 99th anniversary of the founding of the People's Liberation Army. Ambassador Wu Jianghao and Defense Officer Chen Yongjing delivered speeches. More than 340 people attended the event, including some Japanese politicians and officials, military officers from various countries stationed in Japan, friends from all walks of life, Chinese overseas residents, representatives of Chinese-funded enterprises and students.
Ambassador Wu Jianghao pointed out that this year marks the 90th anniversary of the victory of the Chinese Workers' and Peasants' Red Army's Long March. Inspired by the spirit of the Long March, the Chinese people will continue to overcome risks and challenges in the future journey, constantly achieving new accomplishments in China's modernization process. Currently, Sino-Japanese relations are facing serious difficulties and are under constant pressure from new challenges. The actions of Japan, which go against the political consensus that has been confirmed by both sides multiple times, are the root cause of the current situation. Japan should honor its commitments and take practical actions to uphold the important principles laid out in the four political documents between China and Japan, and to fulfill its policy declarations regarding a path of peaceful development.
tChen Yongjing, a military officer, stated that currently, the Chinese military is guided by Xi Jinping’s concept of strengthening the military. They are making every effort to achieve the goal of building a strong military within one hundred years and accelerating the process of developing a world-class armed force. Taiwan is an inalienable part of China’s territory. The Chinese military is confident and capable of countering any interference from external forces, crushing the separatist efforts of those who seek independence from Taiwan, and achieving complete reunification of the motherland. This year marks the 80th anniversary of the Tokyo Trials. We should take history as a lesson and work together to maintain the post-war international order and the hard-won peace.
