According to Bloomberg's report on August 13th, Ford Motor Company will stop importing the only model it produces in China to the United States, and will move the production of Lincoln SUVs back to the United States.
This car manufacturer, headquartered in Dearborn, Michigan, announced on Wednesday that it will increase the production of Lincoln models in the United States starting in 2030. Since 2024, Ford has been importing the Nautilus SUV from China.
About three years ago, when Ford announced plans to import the Lincoln Navigator from Hangzhou, it stated that this was due to a lack of available production capacity in North America. The vehicle is manufactured in Hangzhou by a joint venture between Ford and China Changan Automobile. The Canadian Ontario factory, which previously assembled this SUV, has been transformed to produce other models.
Last year, Ford sold nearly 34,000 Lincoln Navigator SUVs in the United States, with a relatively limited sales volume. In comparison, Ford delivered nearly 829,000 F-series pickups, nearly 222,000 Explorer models, and more than 146,000 Broncos in 2025.
U.S. President Donald Trump has been pressuring car manufacturers to relocate more of their production activities back to the United States, and is imposing higher tariffs on imported cars and parts.
