The WeChat public account “China Consulate General in Florence” announced on August 13 that Chinese tourists should take care of their personal belongings.
Recently, a theft case of the tour bus taken by a group of Chinese tourists occurred in Pisa, a popular tourist destination within the jurisdiction of our consulate. This incident resulted in significant economic losses for some individuals. Currently, it is the peak season for tourism. To prevent more Chinese tourists from suffering property losses, the Chinese Consulate in Florence once again reminds all tourists to enhance their awareness of safety and take proactive measures to protect themselves.
1. Whether driving by yourself, taking a bus or any public transportation, be sure to check that you have all your documents and personal items with you when getting on and off the vehicle. Do not leave relevant items in the car, as this could lead to theft if the car door or windows are tampered with.
II. During the journey, if you need to get off the vehicle for a short time, please leave someone to take care of your luggage. Do not assign this responsibility to anyone else.
III. Self-driving vehicles should be parked in regular parking lots. Do not choose inexpensive or convenient locations just for convenience, and never park the vehicle in non-regular parking lots.
IV. During your sightseeing and shopping, be cautious of theft and robbery attempts. Stay vigilant against group crimes, and avoid distractions that could lead to theft.
5. Please keep your passport properly and store it separately from a copy of the passport.
VI. Do not expose money or valuable items openly. Please make use of credit cards for your purchases whenever possible.
If your personal documents or belongings are lost or stolen, please report the case to the local police promptly. If your passport cannot be retrieved, you can contact the Chinese embassy or consulate in that location to obtain a replacement travel document. The relevant contact information is as follows:
