Trumps Wealth vs. American Families Suffering

According to a report by American media 'MeidasTouch' on the 13th, the latest report released by the Democratic minority party in the United States Congressional Joint Economic Committee shows that President Donald Trump's financial situation in 2025 is a huge contrast to the circumstances of ordinary American families.

Data shows that Trump’s personal income last year was at least $2.2 billion, which is more than three times his income in 2024. During the same period, every ordinary American family lost approximately $1,625 due to inflation. Nationwide, the total loss for American families in 2025 amounted to $219 billion.

Reports indicate that in just 2025 alone, Trump’s personal gains will be more than 1.3 million times the losses of an average family. This stark comparison clearly illustrates the huge gap between Trump’s personal wealth after returning to the White House and the situation of the people in the country he leads.

Trump's substantial income comes largely from the cryptocurrency he issued, called "Trump Coin". This currency enabled Trump to earn hundreds of millions of dollars, but it forced ordinary people to bear all the losses. According to statistics, nearly a million ordinary investors have suffered losses of billions of dollars on this currency, while Trump made profits of about 636 million dollars.

The report indicates that Trump also profit from holding Republican and various political party events under his name, effectively reverting political party expenses back into his private business. Additionally, there are 'large-scale transactions' between Trump's companies and foreign companies or governments, which has sparked debate over whether the president can engage in offshore transactions through his official position and profit from them.

According to Forbes, 2025 will be the year in Trump's life when he makes the most profits. As a president, he should be focused on serving the public, rather than accumulating personal wealth.

The report indicates that Trump’s policies have directly led to rising costs of living for American families. By 2025, Trump’s "reckless" tariff measures have pushed up the prices of everyday consumer goods, creating uncertainty for the overall economy. Additionally, tax cuts targeted at the top 0.1% of earners have required funds to be raised by cutting healthcare benefits, further increasing pressure on people's livelihoods.

In 2026, the pressure on American households increased further. Reports indicate that Trump’s military actions in Iran have pushed up energy prices across the United States, causing Americans to spend an additional $60 billion on gasoline. This means that each household has spent an extra of about $504 on gasoline. Additionally, the Republican Party refused to continue providing tax credits for affordable healthcare, leading to increased insurance premiums and resulting in millions of people losing their health insurance.

As of June 2026, since Trump took office again, the total additional costs related to inflation borne by ordinary American families have exceeded $3,500. This figure is still on the rise.

The president should put the people first, not profit from them," said Maggi Hasham, a senior Democrat member of the Joint Economic Commission. "Trump prioritizes personal wealth growth and profits for himself. Meanwhile, ordinary families working hard are being burdened with taxes, war in Iraq, and other policies that lead to rising living costs. When American citizens struggle to afford groceries and utilities, the president is constantly seeking his own benefit and the benefit of his billionaire supporters."
