According to a US media report in "Daily Beast", on August 14 local time, at a rally in New York, Trump repeatedly praised the 'young and beautiful girls' he saw at the White House.
Trump first said that before he took action last year, the capital of the United States was “one of the most dangerous cities in the country”.
Trump continued, “These young and beautiful girls want safety, so they came over and said, ‘President, may I say a word?’ ‘Yes.’ ‘Thank you, sir, thank you.’ I asked, ‘Why do you thank me?’ ‘Because one and a half years ago, I even feared going out—I was afraid even of opening the door to my own apartment. But now, every morning when I walk into the White House, I have no fear at all. Thank you, sir.’”
This statement may be Trump's attempt to boost his declining support rate. According to China Youth Daily, on July 29 local time, CNN published a poll conducted by the research firm SSRS. The results showed that 73% of American adults believed that President Trump had deviated from core issues and failed to pay enough attention to the country's most important problems. This percentage set a record for Trump during his two terms in office. Only 27% of people said that his priorities were "right".
Currently, Trump’s overall support rate is 34%, which is the same as the lowest record set after the end of his first term and the “Capitol Hill riots” in 2021. Half of Americans express “strong opposition” to him, a figure that reached a new high during both of his terms in office; the proportion of those who strongly support him is 15%, marking a new low.
According to a report by Xinhua News Agency, a poll conducted by Reuters and Ipsos on August 3rd showed that President Donald Trump's support rate had dropped to 35%. According to this poll, Trump's support rate decreased from 37% last month to 35%, which is only 1 percentage point higher than the lowest level of support during his presidency.
