Iran Holds Off on US Negotiations Amidst Escalation

According to Iran Student News Agency (ISNA) and Iranian International Television (iranintl), on August 14 local time, Iran's Foreign Minister Alaghchi stated that Iran has not yet decided whether to resume negotiations with the United States.

He pointed out that the United States has violated the Mexico-U.S. Memorandum of Understanding, and the war has rekindled. There is no such thing as an ‘extension of the ceasefire agreement’.

Al-Aragchi said that Qatar and Pakistan continue to exchange information and maintain contact with Iran, but "this does not mean negotiations."

At the same time, Al-Aghazi said that the previous diplomatic channels are no longer effective, and Iran is exploring a temporary path that could eventually become the final framework.

He revealed that negotiations between Iran and Oman are underway, but these are completely different issues. They concern determining the routes through the Hormuz Strait so that ships can navigate smoothly.
