According to The Guardian's report on August 19th, American Democratic Senator Jon Ossoff referred to Trump as a "lierer who evaded military service" during a campaign event in Georgia on Tuesday. At the same time, he defended Senator Mark Kelly, praising him as a hero. This move escalated the public dispute between Ossoff and the U.S. President.
In his speech at Osov, he said: "That traitorous president who evaded military service recklessly dragged our country into a war over which he had no idea how to end or win, and yet he tried to imprisonment the man who embodies American heroism (Kelly)."
The term “avoiding military service” originates from Trump’s military enlistment record during the Vietnam War. During the time of the Vietnam War conscription, Trump had five extensions of his enlistment. Four of these extensions were due to academic reasons while he was in college, and the fifth extension was granted in 1968 on the grounds that he had bone spurs in his heels, allowing him to receive medical leave.
Kelly is a former naval captain. Last year, he along with five other Democratic legislators posted a video on social media, stating that military personnel should not obey illegal orders. As a result, he was attacked by Trump. Trump called for the arrest of these legislators, accusing them of “seditious behavior, punishable by death!”
Osoff is currently running for re-election as a senator in Georgia, and there are widespread rumors that he intends to run for the 2028 presidential election. He has gained widespread attention on social media due to his long-term sharp criticism of Trump.
On the 16th, during a campaign event in Atlanta, Ossov also criticized Trump’s approach to handling the war between the United States and Israel against Iran.
Osov said sharply, "When the sailors on the Lincoln fought for him, when they wasted our ammunition and oil reserves in vain, he dozed off during the meeting. Look, he doesn’t want to do this job. He wants to build his dance hall and travel with Natalie in that 'air palace' given to him by Qatar."
The aforementioned Natalie Huppert is Trump’s executive assistant, and she has attracted attention due to her close relationship with Trump.
In response to this, the White House quickly reacted. Trump referred to him as "Little Herman (a comedic character from the US)", while Steven Zhang, the director of communications for the White House, used a pun on social media to describe Osoff as a radical and extreme "Democrat swine party member".
White House spokesman Davis Ingle also joined the battle, calling Osov a “embarrassing, feminine drama boy” and a “ insignificant loser”, and stating that he was imitating former U.S. President Barack Obama.
