On that day, when asked about the flash floods in Nepal and the missing Americans, Trump said, “It’s very bad. We have already contacted Nepal and provided them with all the help they need. You know, we have a good relationship with Nepal, and these flash floods are extremely cruel.”
He added, “No one has ever seen such a scene. Those sturdy and well-built buildings were destroyed, just like toothpicks.”
Trump said that there are about 50 to 60 Americans who have gone missing, but he has not yet received a complete list of those who have gone missing.
On that day, the United States Department of State reported that 90 Americans were missing.
According to Nepalese police reports, flash floods in northern Nepal have caused at least 389 deaths.

The Malaysian Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that 55 Malaysian citizens are unaccounted for; the Ukrainian Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that at least 56 Ukrainians remain missing; Canadian Foreign Minister John Trudeau stated that at least 30 Canadian citizens and permanent residents are currently missing; the Australian government said that at least 39 Australians are missing in Nepal.
