According to reports from the Pakistani newspaper Dawn and ProPakistani, on September 9, Pakistani Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif attended a ceremony and delivered 50 BYD electric vehicles to the Islamabad police.
Shabz personally handed the electric vehicle keys to the Pakistani Home Minister and the Inspector General of Police in Islamabad.

Shabaz said that the government is providing all possible resources to enable the police in Islamabad to meet the requirements of modern policing. The police in Islamabad should serve as an example for the police in other cities in Pakistan.
Pakistani media reported that the introduction of electric vehicles is part of a green and sustainable policing effort led by the police and traffic authorities in Islamabad. The two departments are incorporating electric vehicles produced by Chinese manufacturer BYD into their police fleet.
Pakistani officials stated that switching to electric vehicles will also help save foreign exchange reserves by reducing dependence on traditional fuels.
According to reports, using these new electric vehicles can save about 34 million Pakistani rupees (approximately 823,000 RMB) in fuel costs per month. In this way, the initial cost of each vehicle can be recovered through savings in fuel costs within about 10.5 months.

In June this year, People's Daily reported that BYD delivered 25 electric vehicles to the Islamabad Police Department in Pakistan. Since April this year, the Islamabad Police Department has placed orders for nearly 100 electric vehicles from BYD. So far, BYD has delivered 58 of these vehicles in batches. The main models delivered are the Sealion 07 and ATTO 2.
