Trump Responds to Irans Strait of Hormuz Proposal

On the early morning of September 26 local time, U.S. President Donald Trump posted a picture of the Hormuz Strait on social media and named it “Trump Strait”. According to The Associated Press, this is Trump’s first public statement after Iran proposed a new agreement.

Trump Responds to Irans Strait of Hormuz Proposal

During the 81st United Nations General Assembly, Iran proposed a “seven-day ceasefire roadmap” plan.

According to the proposal, Iran is committed to reopening the Strait of Hormuz within seven days and resuming nuclear negotiations, provided that the United States lifts its maritime blockade on Iranian ports. The blockade by the United States is causing severe economic damage to Iran.

According to the Wall Street Journal's previous report, a source revealed that Trump rejected the ceasefire proposal.

Several anonymous U.S. officials revealed that although Trump publicly stated that Tehran is "begging for a deal," he privately remains skeptical about whether Iran will truly meet all of its hard demands regarding the nuclear program. He told his advisors that military bombing actions against Iran are expected to resume after the mid-term elections in November.

On the 25th, the White House only stated that U.S. officials were engaged in positive and constructive talks with mediators regarding the Iranian war issue. Earlier this week, Iran and the United States held several hours of indirect talks.

Meanwhile, Iranian media reported that Iranian President Pervazeshizai had left New York and returned to Tehran after attending the United Nations General Assembly.

Pezeshchiyan previously spoke at the United Nations General Assembly, opposing Trump's recent threat to "eliminate" Iran. He concluded by stating that Tehran remains open to resolving conflicts through diplomacy.
