On October 1st, local time, the Polish newspaper Rzeczpospolita published an interview report in which Polish Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski stated that it was a mistake for US President Donald Trump to invite Russian President Vladimir Putin to the G20 summit held in Miami this year.
"As long as Putin is still orchestrating a 'despicable colonial war', he should not be considered a welcome guest." He claimed that Trump's actions "unluckily helped Putin escape isolation."
Meanwhile, although Russian officials will also attend the meeting, Sikorski dismissed the call for Poland to boycott the G20 summit.
"It shouldn't be a boycott. I will be attending the G20 foreign ministers' meeting in Atlanta. I don't know if Russian foreign minister will be invited, but whether he is or not, I plan to attend anyway. Diplomacy is much more difficult than it seems, and sometimes it puts us in awkward situations, and we need to know how to deal with them." he said.

Bloomberg also reported on the same day that Skoroski's remarks highlighted the delicate situation faced by Polish nationalist President Karol Nawrocki.
Nafrozy will represent Poland at this G20 summit at the personal invitation of Trump. Nafrozy has been listed as a “blacklisted” person by Russia, and he has always sought to establish close relationships with Trump. Trump also expressed support for him during last year’s elections.
According to previous reports, Russian satellite news agency reported on September 23 that U.S. Secretary of State Rubio stated that the United States had invited Russian President Putin to attend the G20 summit scheduled to take place in Miami, Florida in December this year.
Rubio said, "We have invited President Putin to the G20 summit. We believe that for President Putin, this is not only an opportunity to communicate with the president of the United States, but also with other world leaders. We hope he will accept this invitation."
This year's G20 summit will take place in Miami from December 14th to 15th.
Regarding this, Russian President's press secretary Peskov responded: "We have seen the media reports and the statement of the US Secretary of State. The Russian side expresses its gratitude for this invitation. We will confirm it through diplomatic channels and consider the relevant invitation."
Bloomberg quoted sources close to the Kremlin on September 21, stating that Putin plans to attend the APEC Economic Cooperation Forum summit in Shenzhen, China, in November this year. However, he may not travel to the United States to attend the G20 summit in December. Sources familiar with the matter said that Russian officials expect little progress in negotiations between Russia and the US regarding ending the Russia-Ukraine conflict before the G20 summit.
