On the afternoon of October 2, the women's football bronze medal match for the 2026 Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games was held at the Koishiyama Comprehensive Sports Park Stadium in Shizuoka Prefecture. The Chinese women's team lost 0-1 to the South Korean women's team, ending up in fourth place and missing out on medals.
In just 4 minutes of play, the South Korean team created opportunities through set pieces. Choi Yoo-ri made a header to support her teammate, and Lu Zhenying also scored with a header. As a result, China was behind 0-1 early on. In the 10th minute, Shao Ziqin made a header to support her teammate, and Wang Shuang shot high into the net. China failed to score any goals in the first half.
In the second half, the Chinese team intensified their attacks. At the 50th minute, Wang Yanwen sent a cross from the left side, and Shao Ziqin attempted a header which was saved by the Korean goalkeeper. At the 70th minute, Wang Shuang entered from the right side and shot a long shot that hit the crossbar. After that, the Chinese team failed to equalize the score, and eventually lost 0-1.
In the previous semi-finals, the Chinese women's football team was defeated by the North Korean women's team with a score of 0-2, missing out on the finals. At the last Hangzhou Asian Games, the Chinese women's football team won the bronze medal.
