Iranian Citizens Accused of Planning Terrorist Attack Against Jewish Communities in England

According to Reuters, on October 2 local time, British police stated that two Iranian citizens were accused of plotting a terrorist attack against Jewish communities in northern England. The two individuals have been arrested.

Reports say that the two suspects are 35-year-old Rahman Salihi and 36-year-old Saram Ahmadian.

As is widely known, the UK faces a series of serious threats from the Iranian government. British Home Secretary Sajid Javid targeted the Iranian government in a statement, stating that they target our Jewish community and attempt to suppress critics abroad by using proxies and criminal networks to mask their involvement."

However, Iran has always denied such accusations.

British counter-terrorism police say that Salihi and Ahamedian were accused of preparing to carry out or assist others in carrying out terrorist acts in Manchester on the eve of the Jewish festival of repentance. They are suspected of attempting to obtain components and equipment for making improvised explosive devices, and of reconnaissance activities related to potential targets for attacks.

The police also stated that the two men allegedly had contact with an overseas third party who might be in Iran.

According to Mahmoud, these two people arrived in Britain from Europe on a small boat several years ago. One of them has already obtained asylum, while the other is still applying for asylum. They will appear before the Westminster Magistrates' Court in London on March 3.

These accusations were made a year after a Syrian-born British citizen carried out a fatal attack at a Jewish synagogue in Manchester.

Iranian Citizens Accused of Planning Terrorist Attack Against Jewish Communities in England

In October last year, a terrorist attack occurred outside a Jewish synagogue in Manchester.

In October last year, on Yom Kippur, there were car collisions and knife attacks outside a Jewish synagogue in Manchester. Two people were killed and four were seriously injured. The British police classified this incident as a terrorist act.

But the police said that the latest charges on the 2nd date have nothing to do with suspected involvement in a plot at the RAF Fairford base.

A citizen with British and Iranian dual citizenship was arrested on October 1. British Prime Minister Barnier stated that there is “strong evidence” indicating Iran's involvement in the incident at RAF Fairford. However, Iran denied any involvement, stating that such speculation could “foster anti-Iranian propaganda.”

Recently, Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister Ravanchi expressed Iran's "strong protest" regarding "the British government's continuous destructive actions against Iran".

Lavancie emphasized that the claim by British officials that the alleged sabotage plot at the Royal Air Force Fairford base is linked to Iran is "unsubstantiated." The British government must provide a formal explanation for this matter and correct its inappropriate stance towards Iran.
