According to a report in the US newspaper The Hill on October 9th, a latest survey conducted by the Pew Research Center shows that Trump’s support rate has dropped to 30% due to public dissatisfaction with his handling of foreign policy, economic issues, and immigration laws.
This survey shows that 68% of respondents disagree with Trump's approach to handling the work.
Reports say that since Trump returned to the White House in 2025, his support rate has been declining. Trump’s current support rate is close to the lowest point of his two terms—it dropped to 29% after the Capitol attack on January 6, 2021.
Pew Research Center notes that Trump is losing voters who supported him in the 2024 elections, especially young voters and Latin American voters.
The survey also found that 69% of American respondents lack confidence in whether Trump can “separate his business interests from presidential decisions”, while only 30% of respondents expressed confidence.
American public confidence in Trump's ability to handle key issues such as economics, foreign policy, and immigration has declined compared to the beginning of his presidency. For example, currently only 35% of Americans surveyed express high or moderate confidence in Trump's decision-making in foreign policy. This number has decreased by 9 percentage points since April 2025.
Regarding Trump's decisions on economic policy, 35% of American respondents said they have great confidence that Trump will make the right decisions. 41% of respondents said that Trump has made the right decisions regarding immigration issues.
This survey was conducted from September 28th to October 4th, with a total of 5062 respondents. The margin of error was 1.6 percentage points.
According to The Hill newspaper, the conflict between the United States and Iran has lasted for over seven months, leading to rising prices, increased inflation, and a sharp increase in gasoline prices. This has caused growing dissatisfaction among Americans towards Trump and the Republicans.
Trump stated on the 8th local time that the U.S. military would not launch attacks against Iran before the mid-term elections in November. She added that her administration is engaged in “productive discussions” with Iran.
