According to the Philippine ‘Manila Bulletin’, Vice President Sara Duterte issued a statement on October 12 warning that certain remarks by President Marcos, which link her with China, could have an impact on national security and the relationship between the Philippines and China.
Sarah said that Marcos's remarks had a serious impact on Philippine-China relations, and accused the current government of potentially using state resources to monitor, pressure her, and politically weaken her.
Sarah said that from Marco's remarks, it can be seen that 'in his view, doing business with China is a so-called ‘threat’ to the security of the Philippines. This implies a warning to Filipino businessmen who do business in China.'
The most important thing is that his remarks lack sufficient evidence, but this is a rash and dangerous provocation against China—a country with long-standing relations with the Philippines.
Previously, there were rumors in the Philippines that Sara received funds from China. On the 11th, Marcos stated that if this were true, it would be a so-called "high-level threat."
According to Filipino media reports on the 13th, the Philippine prosecution has withdrawn three of the four charges against Vice President Sara, only charging her for failing to properly declare sources of unexplained assets from 2022 to 2025.
