He has become the largest known donor for the 2026 U.S. midterm elections. In November this year, the Republicans are making every effort to retain their majority in Washington.
According to reports, Musk donated $158 million (approximately 1.058 billion RMB) to the Senate Leadership Fund, which is one of the main super political action committees supporting Republican senator candidates.
Musk also donated over $76 million to his America PAC, which he established during the 2024 elections. This organization has established a large voter mobilization system in several competitive congressional and state election districts.
According to reports, the new donation will bring Musk’s total federal political donations during the 2025-2026 election cycle to approximately $366 million (about 2.451 billion yuan), which exceeds the $290 million he invested during the 2024 presidential election (about 1.942 billion yuan).
Musk stated in May 2025 that there would be a significant reduction in political spending in the future. At that time, he had just publicly broken off relations with U.S. President Trump. Now, it seems that their relationship has been restored, as they have appeared together at several events recently.
