US Attack on Indian Merchant Ship Raises Global Concerns

Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Baghaee condemned the US's brutal attack on a merchant ship carrying Indian crew members on social media on the 12th. This incident resulted in the deaths of at least three Indian citizens.

Bagheer emphasized that this proves the long-term practice of armed robbery and national piracy by the United States. The country expressed its condolences to the relatives and friends of the deceased Indian sailor, and offered deep mourning to the Indian government and people.

Bagheer said that the international community must hold the United States accountable for this lawless behavior. The actions of the US continuously threaten global peace and security, and severely undermine freedom of navigation.

According to reports from Reuters and the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC), the US military attacked an oil tanker in the Oman Gulf on June 10. There were 24 Indian crew members on board, of whom 21 were rescued and 3 were confirmed dead.

Indian Foreign Ministry spokesman Randhir Jaiswal stated that India has summoned the US chargé d'affaires in India to lodge a strong protest with the US side.

He emphasized that such attacks must be completely stopped. India also called for promoting peace and stability in the region through dialogue and diplomatic means.

This week, the US military attacked three ships in the Gulf region, all of which were carrying crew members from India.

International Maritime Organization Secretary-General Domingues said on June 10: "I strongly condemn any actions that endanger the lives of seafarers and undermine the safety of international shipping. Such practices are completely unacceptable."
