US Bans Chinese AI Company DeepSeek from US Systems

According to Reuters report dated October 19 local time, a notice issued by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security requires the removal of DeepSeek, a Chinese AI company, from the IT systems of U.S. civilian agencies, as well as third-party services that use its AI models.

The department also prohibits U.S. civilian agencies from purchasing products of DeepSeek and third-party services developed based on DeepSeek.

The US Department of Homeland Security arbitrarily claimed that the DeepSeek model poses ‘multiple threats’ and expressed so-called concerns regarding its use, stating that ‘if U.S. government employees or contractors use this product, sensitive data may be transmitted to China.’

The Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs previously stated that the development of AI in China is a result of high-level technological self-reliance and self-strengthening, and it also benefits from always adhering to the principles of consultation, joint construction, sharing, and open cooperation. “We always believe that all parties should strengthen cooperation to promote the inclusive and beneficial development of artificial intelligence, and to serve the well-being of all mankind.”
