Iran Proposes Framework for US-Iran Deal with Ceasefire & Economic Repercussions

According to Iranian sources on the 14th, Mehdi Mohammadi, the strategic advisor leading Iran's negotiation team, revealed some details of the proposed Memorandum of Understanding between Iran and the United States. These details involve ceasefire arrangements, the lifting of sanctions, the removal of restrictions, and subsequent negotiations on nuclear issues.

It is reported that the first priority is to cease conflicts and ensure security. All military actions against Iran and Lebanon must be stopped, and no new military actions should occur. At the same time, the US must provide necessary guarantees to prevent any further tensions from arising.

Secondly, the thawing of some frozen Iranian assets and the suspension of certain economic restrictions and sanctions will be implemented, in order to create conditions for expanding economic exchanges and oil sales.

Thirdly, remove maritime and trade restrictions to restore normal maritime trade in Iran. Facilitate the passage of Iranian merchant ships and reduce maritime restrictions. Also, eliminate any existing obstacles on international transportation routes.

Fourth, negotiations on nuclear issues will proceed in subsequent stages. According to the current negotiation text, nuclear issues are not part of the first-stage content of the agreement. Negotiations on nuclear issues will only move to the next stage after the other party fulfills its initial commitments.

Fifth, lifting sanctions and reconstruction. In the final stage, discussions will focus on lifting U.S. sanctions of both the first and second levels, establishing mechanisms for compensating for war losses and carrying out reconstruction. This is one of Iran’s most important demands.

As of now, Iranian officials still state that Iran has not made a final decision on the memorandum of understanding, and the related deliberations are ongoing.
