U.S. Army Officer Reports 'Flying Potato' UFO Observation

On the 12th local time, the U.S. Department of Defense released the third batch of files related to unidentified flying objects (UFOs). According to The New York Times, one of the most concerning cases occurred in mid-February 2022. At that time, in Colorado, an U.S. Army intelligence officer and four members of his unit observed a “flying potato” hovering over Mount Cheyenne.

Witnesses said that on a certain day in February, around 11:25 AM, the weather was clear and cloudless, with extremely low humidity and temperatures of about 50 degrees Fahrenheit (10 degrees Celsius). Witnesses observed a “potato” on the slopes of the Yutan Mountains. The object was “roughly the size of a large jet aircraft,” and resembled a “potato with sharp edges, asymmetry, and an irregularly shaped structure.”

The document states that this object remained completely stationary, but its appearance seemed to change slowly. It had a translucent, twinkling white color, with clear edges, and a milky white glow reflecting sunlight. Then, it suddenly disappeared. Later, the sketch artist drew the shape of the “potato” based on the descriptions provided by witnesses.

Regarding this 'air potatoes' incident, a government analysis attached to the document suggests that it might be an optical phenomenon.

Analysis suggests that “the position of the sun relative to the Chayenne Mountains causes sunlight to scatter from the snow-covered ground,” and “this reflection may illuminate nearby low-level clouds.” However, the analysis also acknowledges that there is “low confidence” in this theory.

The Trump administration has been releasing UFO files in batches since May this year, and a large amount of material was previously never made public. The U.S. Department of Defense stated that Trump is "committed to making information as open to the public as possible, and the public can ultimately judge for themselves the information contained in these documents."

In February of this year, former U.S. President Obama was asked in a podcast whether aliens actually exist. He replied, “They do exist, but I have not seen them. They are not hidden anywhere… what was it called? Area 51. There are no underground facilities there, unless there is some huge conspiracy, and even the President of the United States is unaware of it.”

Regarding this, Trump said that Obama ‘shared classified information,’ and ‘he shouldn’t have done that.’ Trump did not provide further details on this issue, only saying that Obama ‘made a major mistake.’
