On October 21st local time, Hussein Mokheibi, a spokesman for the Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Guard, stated that Iran is preparing to introduce a new weapon that it calls the 'father of bombs'.
Previously, some American media reported that the US military is considering using the most powerful non-nuclear conventional bomb in its arsenal, the GBU-43/B Massive Ordnance Bomb, also known as the 'bomb mother', to target Iran's energy infrastructure and nuclear facilities.
Muhcebi compared this new Iranian weapon to something like ‘we are preparing to release the most powerful bomb ever… this is something we are showing our enemy’. He also said, ‘we are preparing to unveil the ‘father of bombs’’. However, he did not provide any details about the specific technical specifications, explosive power, or a timeline for the official announcement of this new weapon during the interview.
In addition, Mokhebi also emphasized that since the "Day 12 War" with Israel in June last year, Iran's missile stockpile has increased by 1.5 times. "The performance of these missiles has significantly improved, with both range, destructive power, and accuracy in targeting targets being enhanced." Their military strategy is shifting towards "offensive and asymmetric tactics."
Mukherjee previously stated in a statement that the United States naming the most powerful non-nuclear bomb “Bomb Mother” is “a typical manifestation of a barbaric civilization”. He also said, “The future will ultimately belong to those countries who can turn the greatest threat of their opponents into everyday jokes.”
According to reports, ‘Bomb Mother’ is a large air-dropped bomb developed by the US during the Iraq War. It can explode before landing on the ground. Currently, it is one of the most powerful non-nuclear bombs used by the US military.
Last Thursday (October 15th), CNN reported, citing multiple American officials, that the U.S. military has developed a new plan to attack Iran. This plan includes consideration of using a large air-delivered bomb, known as the "mother of bombs," to target Iranian nuclear facilities.
When asked about related reports, U.S. President Donald Trump neither denied nor acknowledged the reports. He simply stated that the ‘mother of bombs’ was not a nuclear weapon, but a highly powerful conventional bomb.
After taking office as Iran’s new defense minister on the 18th, Ahlaki said that Iran is ready to deal with the possibility of the United States using the “Mother of All Bombs.” He stated, “We have considered the necessary measures to address this issue.” He warned, “The President of the United States should focus on ensuring the withdrawal of U.S. troops from the region. If he decides to use the ‘Mother of All Bombs,’ he will need to consider how many U.S. soldiers will be forced to be carried out like that.”
Ahlaki also told the Iranian parliament: “This is also the reason why the United States has not taken such action so far. Of course, if it turns threats from mere slogans into actions, it will have to face the consequences.”
