New Mexico Attorney General Files Civil Lawsuit Against Epsteins Lawyers and Accountant Amid Abuse Allegations

According to a report by the British newspaper The Guardian on October 21, the Attorney General of New Mexico, USA, filed a civil lawsuit against Jeffrey Epstein’s longtime lawyer Darren Indyk and longtime accountant Richard Kahn. They are accused of 'assisting and concealing' Epstein’s crimes, and the lawsuit seeks to prevent them from receiving compensation from Epstein’s estate during the proceedings.

The lawsuit was filed in the United States District Court for New Mexico, and Kahn and Yendick were named as defendants, both individually and as executors of Epstein's will. The complaint also listed Epstein's estate and the trust established in 1953 to manage that estate as defendants.

The indictment states: “With the help of his accomplices, Epstein sold, isolated, and abused survivors in tempting locations—including Epstein’s ranch in Stanley, New Mexico, known as the Zorro Ranch.”

The indictment further alleged that “in exchange for his role in promoting Epstein’s criminal activities and keeping silence about them, his associates received substantial salaries, access to elite social circles, and luxurious gifts, including the designation as the beneficiary of millions of dollars in Epstein’s estate.”

On the same day, Derek's lawyer representative stated that Derek and Kahn firmly opposed the accusations made by the Chief Prosecutor of New Mexico, stating that they conspired with Mr. Epstein or knewingly assisted him in sexual abuse or human trafficking—actions that, according to various sources, occurred in private locations and without the presence of either Mr. Derek or Mr. Kahn.

The statement adds: “No woman has alleged that Mr. Dick or Mr. Kahn committed or witnessed sexual abuse, and no woman has claimed that she or anyone else reported allegations of abuse by Epstein to them. The indictment filed by the Attorney General of New Mexico also makes no such claims.”

The statement also stated: “Before filing this baseless lawsuit, no person from the New Mexico Attorney General’s office requested to speak with Mr. Dick or Mr. Kahn in order to obtain relevant information; this seriously calls into question the thoroughness of the Attorney General’s investigation and the motives behind his lawsuit.”

Earlier this year, Kahn and Indick told the U.S. House Committee investigating Epstein that they were unaware of Epstein’s crimes during their employment period.

The claims filed include a court order prohibiting Dick and Kahn from receiving any inheritance payments during the course of the case. The indictment alleges that both have sought personal benefits from their relationships with Epstein. It is stated that between 2011 and 2019, Dick received over $16 million from Epstein and related entities, while Kahn received over $10 million.

New Mexico Attorney General Raul Torres stated in a statement that Epstein did not act alone, and his death does not mean that those who helped him commit his crimes can escape responsibility.

Torez wrote in the complaint: 'Through this lawsuit, the state government seeks to hold these individuals accountable as much as possible and ensure that Epstein's assets are distributed to those who survived his horrific crimes.'

After the Department of Justice released approximately 3 million documents related to Epstein at the end of last year and early this year, Epstein’s Zorro Ranch was once again under scrutiny. The Guardian reported in early February that the newly disclosed documents contained thousands of references to Zorro Ranch, as well as numerous photos of men and young girls at the property. Several survivors of Epstein’s abuse had previously testified about the abuse they claimed they suffered there.

The Guardian’s investigation also revealed that, unlike Epstein’s other properties in Palm Beach, New York, and his private islands in the Caribbean, the U.S. federal authorities have apparently never searched the ranch in New Mexico.

Torres said he wanted to find out what had happened at the Zoro Ranch. A member of the New Mexico legislature also established a ‘Truth Commission’ to investigate the activities at the ranch.
