US Military Jet Crashes, Causes Forest Fire in Washington

According to a report by the American CBS Corporation, on June 13 local time, local officials stated that during that afternoon, a U.S. military fighter jet crashed on a mountain in Yakima County, Washington, causing a forest fire.

According to the Yakima County Sheriff’s Office, the accident occurred near Lake Rimpuck in Washington State. The pilot suffered minor injuries after the ejection and has been taken to the hospital for treatment.

Officials stated that the crash caused a fire, and the campers were evacuated. Firefighters then launched an effort to extinguish the fire.

The United States Marine Corps told CBS’s KIRO-TV in a statement that the crashed fighter jet was an F/A-18 ‘Super Hornet’ fighter.

The statement indicates that a non-fatal flight accident occurred during routine training of the fighter jet, located approximately 55 miles southeast of Seattle, Washington.

Officials stated that the cause of the accident is still under investigation.
