Misty Roberts Sentenced to 90 Days for Statutory Rape

According to foreign media such as The Guardian and Fox News, Misty Roberts, the former mayor of Delridge, Louisiana, was sentenced to 90 days in prison for raping a 16-year-old boy on June 9 local time.

She was convicted of two serious crimes in early 2026, including sexual intercourse with a minor (statutory rape) and molesting minors.

In July 2024, while hosting a birthday party for her son at her home, Roberts sexually assaulted the minor boy. At that time, she was still the mayor of Derid City.

The prosecutor had requested a maximum sentence of 17 years in prison, arguing that Roberts failed to take responsibility for her actions. However, the judge sentenced Roberts to 90 days in jail, along with two five-year suspended sentences. The judge also ordered that she undergo psychological treatment, be registered as a sex offender, and regularly undergo drug and alcohol tests.

Fox News Network quoted KPLC as reporting that the text messages between Roberts and her teenage son were shown to the jury. In these messages, the two discussed what drinks the teenagers at the party wanted.

Other messages from the party that night showed that Roberts' son said the situation was "crazy," and told Roberts that his sister was emotionally upset.

According to reports, Roberts' daughter testified in court that she saw her mother and the victim 'tangled together' on the night of the party. Duncan Clanton, Roberts' former husband, testified in court that Roberts admitted having sexual relations with the teenage boy, and that the couple's child witnessed this firsthand.

Before the verdict was pronounced, the victim’s mother accused Roberts of causing harm to the child she was responsible for taking care of.

She described Roberts in court as “a predator who wears high heels, has undergone Botox injections, and has undergone other cosmetic surgeries.”

She added that she found her son sitting alone in the room, and heard him crying at night.

"She said to Robertz, 'Get further away from my family!' "

Roberts told the court that she will spend the rest of her life feeling guilty. She apologized to the victims' families for the pain and embarrassment they endured.
