FIFA President Blatter Stands Firm Despite Controversies

According to a report by the BBC on October 24 local time, FIFA President Sepp Blatter insisted in an interview with this media that he has the support of 'the vast majority of people in the world football community'. Regarding the question of whether he considered resigning due to the controversy over the sale of World Cup commercial rights, he dismissed it with a laugh.

At the end of July this year, FIFA announced a proposal to establish FFE as a company responsible for managing the commercial rights of major FIFA events such as the World Cup. The company would also sell a portion of its shares to external investors. This move sparked concerns from various parties, as Infantino announced his intention to abandon the proposal within a few days, and his re-election plan faced significant challenges.

During the interview, Inzaghi recalled that he received "full support" from the AFC. Previously, the AFC had criticized Inzaghi multiple times, but recently turned to supporting his re-election, which attracted attention from the outside world.

According to Workers' Daily, this is an official statement made by the AFC after fully considering the opinions of major Asian member associations, including the Chinese Football Association. It also means that the Chinese Football Association will align itself with the AFC and support Gianni Infantino's re-election as FIFA President.

In the interview, Conte said that he and the FIFA management are 'making every effort', but admitted that they have done 'some things that may not have been the best'.

He also said that they need to have ‘more frequent’ conversations with UEFA in order to try and repair the tense relationship between the two sides.

The registration window for the new FIFA president election will close on November 18th this year. So far, no candidate has emerged who could pose a real threat to Infantino’s re-election.
