According to the Iranian Tasnim News Agency report dated June 13 local time, the funeral of Iran's late Supreme Leader Khamenei will take place in July.
According to reports, a memorial service will be held in Tehran, the capital of Iran, from July 4th to 5th. A funeral procession will take place in Tehran on July 6th. A further funeral procession will be held in Qom on July 7th. A funeral ceremony will be held in Mashhad on July 9th, with the body being buried at Imam Reza’s Shrine.
Hamenei was killed in a US-Iran air strike on February 28. According to Reuters, Islamic teachings require that the dead be buried as soon as possible, ideally within 24 hours after death. However, exceptions are allowed, such as during wartime.
