Recently, U.S. President Donald Trump posted on social media expressing his full support for Netanyahu's re-election as Israel's Prime Minister.
On October 25th, Trump shared the aforementioned letter on social media and stated, “Everyone, including our enemies, knows that Bibi (Nehda’niyah’s nickname) and I have built a great relationship in the process of achieving victory together.”
He called Netanyahu a “remarkable warrior prime minister” and called on Israeli voters to vote for the Likud group that Netanyahu represents in the parliamentary elections, in order to support his re-election as prime minister. “We must carry out the mission that has been initiated.”
On October 18th, Trump wrote in a public letter that the letter was intended to express his “complete and total support” for Netanyahu’s run for a second term as Israel’s prime minister. “Netanyahu will not disappoint you!”
Although Trump is supporting Netanyahu, there are different opinions within his government. The American news site Axios reported that several senior advisors around Trump are increasingly dissatisfied with Netanyahu. Some even believe that if Netanyahu loses the election and a new Israeli government is formed, it might be more beneficial for the United States to pursue its policies in the Middle East. Vice President Whitmer has not followed Trump’s lead and has not publicly supported Netanyahu.
