Houthi Official Accuses Egypt of Declaring War on Them

According to AFP reports on the 27th local time, a Yemeni Houthi militant official stated that Egypt’s parliament’s authorization to provide military support to Saudi Arabia is equivalent to declaring war on the Houthi movement.

Husni Al-Hadi, a member of the Houla Political Bureau, posted on the 'Telegram' channel saying that when these people discussed their so-called 'regional peace', the Egyptian parliament declared its support for 'defending' Saudi Arabia, which is equivalent to declaring war.

At the request of Egyptian President Sisi, the Egyptian Parliament approved on the 26th the dispatch of military support to Saudi Arabia to help Saudi Arabia resist attacks from the Houthis. Sisi stated that Egypt’s support is intended to ‘defend Saudi territory, and does not include attacking Yemen’.

It is reported that during Sisi's presidency, Saudi Arabia has been an important political and financial partner of Egypt. It provides Egypt with billions of dollars in aid, deposits funds in the Egyptian Central Bank, and supplies energy to Egypt.

Recently, the Houthi armed forces have frequently carried out missile and drone attacks against key targets such as airports, energy facilities, and military bases within Saudi Arabia.

On the 26th, high-level officials from Iran, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, and Pakistan held a regional security meeting in Tehran, the capital of Iran. Prior to this, the four countries signed the 'Muslim Brotherhood Joint Defense Agreement'.

Some opinions suggest that due to Iran's close relationship with the Houthi militia, Saudi Arabia hopes to leverage its influence to encourage Iran to play a role in easing the situation in Yemen.
