Oscar Expresses Regret over Mbappés China Comments, Calls for Respect

It is reported that on October 29th, Oscar attended an event organized by the Brazilian non-profit organization Fundação Estudar. He later posted a message on social media, reminiscing about his life in China.

The meritorious captain who played for Shanghai Port in the Chinese Super League wrote, "It is a great honor to share my experiences in China today, and to encourage more students to learn about this country. I lived there for 8 years, and I have always felt deep gratitude and pride towards this country. Receiving the Shanghai Magnolia Memorial Award is one of the most prestigious honors in my life." In 2024, Oscar was awarded the "Magnolia Memorial Award" to recognize his contributions over the 8 years he played for Shanghai Port, as well as his role as a bridge in promoting exchanges between China and Pakistan.

"I am very sorry to see some people who don't understand China's reality and culture commenting arbitrarily. I believe that respect between cultures begins with understanding. China will always hold a special place in my life experience! I love Shanghai."

Oscar also said in the video: "I have lived in China for a long time, and I know that one should respect a country that is one of the fastest-growing nations. I also place great importance on respecting the Chinese people. I just hope that more and more foreign players or those with influence on social media will show respect towards the Chinese."

The video also captures Oskar's questions during the event. He said, "Traveling to China broadened my horizons. England is great, and I was very dedicated while playing in the Premier League. I have played fewer matches in China, but I learned a lot about Chinese culture. Over the years, I've learned that some things are important, such as the projects we discussed today, and also exchanges between China and Pakistan."

Looking to the future, Oscar said, "I really want to do more. On one hand, help everyone understand China better. On the other hand, bring Chinese people to Brazil to see it and encourage investment. There's still a lot I can do in the field of sports, leveraging my experience in China and my current knowledge."
