Japanese WWII-Era Pistol Used in Debt-Related Forced Entry

According to reports from Nishinippon Television and other media on October 28, a case of forced entry into a residence occurred in Asakura City, Fukuoka Prefecture. A man in his sixties entered the home of an acquaintance after wearing a 'Nambu Type 14' pistol, a weapon used by Japanese soldiers during World War II, in order to collect debts.

According to reports, the incident occurred around 8 a.m. on October 15. Hitoshi Hirata, a 60-year-old man living in Fujigami City, Shizuoka Prefecture, forcibly entered the residence of an acquaintance in Asakura City, Fukuoka Prefecture. He had a violent confrontation with the homeowner. After entering the house, Hirata became extremely agitated and shouted loudly, attempting to intimidate the homeowner with force. However, he was quickly pushed to the ground by the homeowner, who was about the same age as him.

Then, the head of the household's wife called the police. She said over the phone, "A suspicious acquaintance broke into our house. My husband has been subdued! But it seems that he was carrying something that looked like a pistol!"

Upon arriving at the scene, the police arrested Heiwa Tokuo on the spot for suspected 'illegal intrusion into a private residence'. During the search, the police found a pistol and 6 bullets under his waist.

Upon appraisal, the firearm is a ‘Southern Fourteen-Year Model’ pistol, commonly referred to in China as ‘Wangba Box’. Although all of the six bullets were loaded with gunpowder, due to the long time that has passed, they have all become non-firing duds.

After being arrested, Heirawa Tokuo confessed his actions. He said that he traveled from Shizuoka to Fukuoka due to a debt dispute between the two parties. He claimed that he carried a gun to enter the place in order to 'force the other party to pay back the money'. As for the origin of this gun, he said it was 'something he bought a long time ago'.

On October 28 local time, Fukuoka police imposed an additional arrest on Dekutai Hirata for violating the Knife Law. Currently, the police are investigating the channels through which the firearms were transferred.
