American Man Pleads Guilty in Hate Crimes Case Over Boulder Protest Arson

According to a report by the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) on October 29th, an American man who was previously sentenced for setting fire to protestors in support of the release of Israeli hostages has now pleaded guilty to federal hate crimes charges.

The prosecution claimed that Muhammad Sabri Soliman threw burning bottles at the protesters in June 2025, causing at least 12 people to be injured and one person to die.

He pleaded guilty in May to 101 state charges, including the crime of first-degree murder, and was sentenced to life imprisonment; however, in the federal case, he initially defended himself as innocent.

According to the BBC, the prosecution hopes that Solman will be sentenced to life imprisonment, along with 50 years of imprisonment, for the federal charges. The sentencing for Solman is scheduled to take place in January next year.

American Federal Prosecutor Peter McNeely stated that the sentencing recommendation was made based on the wishes of the victim.

McNeeley also said that given Solman's guilty plea, he has withdrawn a previous motion aimed at preventing Solman's family from being deported, so that they could appear as witnesses.

Authorities said that Solomon planned this attack for a year, watching videos related to explosives during that time, and then drove from his home in Colorado Springs to the protest site in Boulder.

The members of this protest group belong to the Colorado organization “Running for Them”. This organization holds rallies every week in support of the release of Israeli hostages taken by Hamas.

The 82-year-old Karen Diamond passed away due to her injuries three weeks after the attack. Her family said that her husband, Lou, suffered severe burns and had to be hospitalized for a month at the burn unit.

court documents show that Solomon is an Egyptian citizen. After being arrested, he told the police that he wanted to 'kill all Zionists'.
