October 30th, Foreign Ministry spokesman Guo Jiaqun hosted a regular press conference.
Reuters reporter asked that next month, the U.S. Federal Communications Commission (FCC) will ban Chinese carriers from directly obtaining U.S. phone numbers. Additionally, the FCC will prohibit all Chinese laboratories from testing U.S. electronic products. What is China's comment on this?
Guo Jiaqun stated that the US has generalized the concept of national security and abused national power, arbitrarily suppressing Chinese enterprises. China firmly opposes and is strongly dissatisfied with this action. The US practices seriously hinder normal economic and trade exchanges between Chinese and US enterprises, and do not align with the interests of all parties, including American enterprises and consumers. China will take necessary measures to firmly safeguard its legitimate rights and interests.
According to Reuters, on October 29 local time, the FCC announced that it would vote on a proposal on November 19 to ban mobile operators such as China Mobile, China Telecom, and China Unicom from directly connecting to US phone numbers.
The agency also stated that it will ban all Chinese laboratories from testing American electronic devices in December 2028. Additionally, it may revoke the direct connection authorization for Chinese companies that are deemed to pose a “national security risk”.
