"If Ukrainian President Zelenskyy wishes to meet with Russian leader Putin, he should go to Moscow."
According to a report by the Russian newspaper 'Businessman' on October 31, Russian Foreign Minister Lavrov made the above statement at a press conference following the first day of the G20 foreign ministers' meeting held in Atlanta, USA.
Lavrov said: “We will ensure his safety. Once again, if he wants to meet, let him come to Moscow.”
According to a report by the Russian International News Agency on October 31, Lavrov stated that if Zelenskyy goes to Moscow, Russia will 'ensure his safety, and this kind of security cannot be guaranteed in Kiev'.
According to Reuters report on October 30th local time, Lavrov stated that some fundamental issues in US-Russian relations remain unresolved, as sanctions against Moscow are still in effect, and the supply of weapons to Kiev continues as well.
"Our position is known, but I don’t know what Ukraine intends to bring to the negotiating table," said Lavrov in a statement cited by Russian news agencies.
He said that Zelenskyy frequently stated that Ukraine is obtaining more weapons in order to target Russian targets, which makes it more difficult to prepare for a new round of negotiations.
Ravilov said: "This attitude is actually not much help in preparing for negotiations."
