According to KCNA on November 1st, the Missile Agency of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea conducted tests on the combat applicability and potency of tactical ballistic missile warheads on October 31st.
General Kim Jung-sik, a member of the Central Military Commission of the Korean Workers’ Party and the first deputy minister of the Central Committee, led the related experiments.
The Ballistic Missile Systems Research Institute and the Warhead Research Institute of the Missile General Bureau have published experimental results indicating that tests using standard Type II warheads have proven their ability to level areas of 12 to 13 hectares with extremely high density. These tests evaluated the applicability and lethality of warheads through tactical ballistic missile deployment.
The Director of the Missile Bureau said: “We have categorized the warheads into four types for special purposes and standard models. We will be able to allow various units to choose these warheads based on their operational objectives and the characteristics of the targets they need to eliminate within this year.”
The Missile General Bureau stated that the tests were part of regular scientific research activities aimed at enhancing the power of combat systems.
