Iran-US Deal Finalized Ahead of June 19th Signature

On the early morning of June 15th, local time, the Iranian Supreme National Security Council announced that the final text of the memorandum of understanding between Iran and the United States has been finalized, and the memorandum will be signed on June 19th.

According to The New York Times, two Iranian officials said that Iran waited until after midnight on June 14 local time to finalize the agreement, as they did not want this significant event to coincide with the birthday of U.S. President Trump.

Reports say that the 7.5 hours of time difference allowed both the United States and Iran to announce the preferred timing for finalizing the agreement. Previously, Trump stated that the agreement would be reached on June 14 local time, while Iran said it would do so at a later date.
