According to a report on the Ministry of Foreign Affairs website on November 1st, from October 30th to 31st, Ma Chao Xu, Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, attended the G20 Foreign Ministers' Meeting in Atlanta, USA.

Ma Chao Xu said that the current international situation is undergoing profound changes, geopolitical tensions are rising, and the development agenda has lagged behind. President Xi Jinping proposed a global security initiative, advocating for a common, comprehensive, cooperative, and sustainable approach to security. This approach promotes dialogue rather than confrontation, partnership rather than alliance, and win-win rather than zero-sum outcomes in security matters, playing an important role in resolving international and regional disputes.
In the face of the complex international situation, the G20 must take on its due responsibilities, act as a force for maintaining world peace and stability, promote the cooling of regional hot issues, strive to address the root causes of conflicts, and strengthen global security governance.
Energy is the lifeblood of economic and social development. The Chinese side supports the G20 in deepening cooperation on ensuring energy security and achieving sustainable development. It also supports efforts to make energy more affordable, to promote the transformation of the energy structure, and to improve international energy governance.
Protectivism has no winners. Building barriers and creating separations, cutting off links between industries and supply chains, disrupts the stability and smooth operation of global industrial and supply chains, and harms the interests of all parties. Members of the G20 should deepen policy coordination, ensure smooth trade, foster innovation and empowerment, promote inclusive development, and take practical actions to maintain the stability and smooth operation of global industrial and supply chains.
China has always conducted international trade based on market principles and WTO rules. It is necessary to prevent the politicization, militarization, and over-safety-oriented approach of economic and trade issues. Moreover, it is absolutely unacceptable to use the pretext of 'fair competition' to carry out protectionist measures.
Ma Chaoxu also explained China's stance on issues such as the situation in the Middle East and the Ukraine crisis.
The meeting was chaired by Secretary of State Pompeo of the United States, the rotating chair of the G20 in 2026. In-depth discussions took place on topics such as geopolitical tensions, energy, and supply chains.
