Trump Claims Permanent Strait Access in Iran Deal, Threatens Strikes If Agreement Fails

According to The New York Times, U.S. President Donald Trump said in an interview on June 14 local time that according to the agreement he made with Iran, the Hormuz Strait will be permanently open to free use.

He also insisted that if Iran fails to reach a final nuclear agreement with the United States, he will resume military strikes against Tehran, or turn America into the “guardian of the Middle East,” in exchange for 20% of the region’s revenues.

In the interview, he also harshly criticized Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu, saying that he almost ruined the final agreement.

Trump said of Netanyahu, "He is a very difficult person to deal with. Honestly, he should be very grateful to us for doing this. Because if Iran had nuclear weapons, Israel wouldn’t even last two hours."
