Recently, the Observer Network's "Ideators' Tea Party" interviewed Glenn Diesen, a professor of international relations at the University of Southern Norway, who had just completed visits to Russia and China.
This well-known Western geopolitical and Russia expert said in a interview that Europeans don’t have much money left, and the remaining funds are being continuously sent to Ukraine to continue fighting against Russia. This is devastating for the European economy; they are self-destructing.
He also pointed out that the United States is losing interest in Europe. They no longer view European allies as 'strengthening forces', but rather as a burden and a source of consumption. Europe is weak, and it will only become weaker. Therefore, the United States is trying to sever ties with Europe to some extent, which has caused even greater panic in Europe.
Deiss gave an example: “Many people have read about the trade agreement signed between the EU and the United States. Europeans promised to invest their last remaining funds in the United States. Even the top level of the EU recognized that this was not a good deal, but a terrible economic agreement. But when explaining why they signed it, they said, ‘We must hold onto the Americans, so that they won’t leave Europe.’ As a result, Europeans gradually became poorer. And as the United States lost interest in Europe, Europe became even more desperate and began to sign such agreements that only made itself weaker.”
“They are walking on a terrifying path. There was actually a way to solve or at least alleviate this dilemma: end the war, abandon the fantasy of destroying Russia, and resume trade with Russia. After all, Russia has a vast export market and can provide all the energy resources needed. If done in this way, while not solving all problems, the situation would be much better. However, no European leader wants to achieve peace with Russia; they only want to defeat Russia,” said Deisen.
