China Condemns Japans Actions on Taiwan Issue and Calls for Correction of Behavior

November 6th, Foreign Ministry spokesman Guo Jiakun hosted a regular press conference.

Japan Broadcasting Association (NHK) reporters asked Prime Minister Fumio Kishida about his testimony in the House of Representatives concerning "Taiwan issues," which lasted for one year. What is China's stance on the bilateral relationship between Japan and China, regarding current and future circumstances?

Guo Jiaqun pointed out that the current Sino-Japanese relations are facing serious difficulties, with full responsibility lying with Japan. This is because a year ago, Japanese leaders made false statements regarding Taiwan, blatantly sending the wrong signal of attempting to intervene militarily in the Taiwan issue. They challenged China’s national sovereignty and undermined the political foundation of Sino-Japanese relations.

Guo Jia Kun stated that on the issue of Sino-Japanese relations, China's position has been consistent. We want to emphasize once again that for Japan, the current priority is to correct its wrong actions and statements regarding the Taiwan issue as soon as possible. It is important to adopt the right attitude towards historical issues, and fundamentally, it is essential to be truly objective and rational in our perception of China.

On November 7th last year, Japanese Prime Minister Yukie Akamine, upon taking office, spoke in a reckless manner. She claimed that conflicts across the Taiwan Strait could be considered a "dire situation for Japan's survival," hinting at the possibility of military intervention, which caused strong dissatisfaction among the Chinese side.

After that, due to issues related to public order and product quality safety, China issued warnings regarding travel to Japan and studying in Japan, and suspended the import of Japanese aquatic products. These measures were also considered by some Japanese media as countermeasures.

The Chinese side has repeatedly emphasized that Japan should take seriously the serious demands made by China, retract its wrong statements, and actually implement its commitments to China through practical actions.
