According to the Guardian, citing AFP reports, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated on June 15 local time that the Israeli military will continue to station in Lebanon's 'security buffer zone'.
Netanyahu said, "We have established deep security zones around Israel. We have taken this measure in Gaza, Lebanon, and Syria. I want to make it clear: as long as it is necessary, we will continue to maintain these security zones to protect our country."
It is reported that this is the first speech given by Netanyahu after the finalization of the text of the Israeli-Mexican Memorandum of Understanding.
According to the Israeli Times and Israel's i24NEWS television station, Netanyahu also stated that Israel was unaware of the details of the US-Iran agreement.
Netanyahu said, "Whether there is this agreement or not, Iran will never have nuclear weapons now or in the future. As long as I remain Prime Minister of Israel, this will absolutely not happen."
He also claimed that Israel will “take necessary measures” to prevent Iran from obtaining nuclear weapons, and emphasized: “In pursuit of this goal, I will not limit my actions in any way.”
