According to a message posted on the WeChat public account of the Chinese Embassy in the Philippines on June 18, the Chinese Embassy in the Philippines attaches great importance to the case of 70 Chinese citizens who were detained by the Filipino authorities at the San Jia Steel Plant in East Misamis Province.
Following the release of 64 Chinese citizens on May 28, the embassy has continued to urge the Philippine side to expedite the identification process for the six detainees. It demands that their cases be handled fairly and swiftly in accordance with the law, thereby effectively protecting the legal rights of the Chinese citizens. The embassy has also sent personnel to visit the detainees to provide them with care and assistance, and to assist in arranging translations for court hearings.
On May 29th and June 3rd, two more people were released. Eventually, all of the 70 Chinese citizens detained in this case were released on June 15th and 17th respectively. Thus, all the detainees have been freed.
