According to the BBC, on June 19 local time, the UK Transport Police issued a statement stating that two trains collided in the Bedford area. The police received reports around 5:15 p.m. that day and are still dealing with the accident. Several people were injured, and one person died. The accident was classified as a major incident.

The statement indicates that the trains involved belong to East Midlands Railway Company.

The British East England Ambulance Service said in a statement on the day that one person died at the scene, 11 people were seriously injured, 22 people were critically injured, and 56 people suffered minor injuries.

East Midlands Railway confirmed that the two trains that collided in the Bedford area were a train from Corby, England, to St Pancras, London, at 16:40, and a train from Nottingham, England, to St Pancras, London, at 15:50.

The company states that it will publish further information after "grasping a more complete understanding of the situation."

British Prime Minister Sturme posted on social media that reports regarding this accident are extremely concerning. He offered condolences to the families of the victims and those who were injured.
